A Variable Mix Ratio Epoxy Gel.

Fusion VMX is a revolutionary new epoxy that gives the blade Smith an unprecedented amount of control over the flex characteristics of the cured bond line between tang and scale. Our proprietary formula uses a highly advanced chemistry that allows the user to vary the ratio of resin to catalyst in order to achieve performance properties tailored specifically to the application or personal preference

Additionally, our newly optimised non-sagging/gap filling viscosity minimises excess run out, virtually eliminating the chance of a starved glue joint for measuring and mixing instructions please refer to some further instructions

Fusion VMx's unique chemistry allows it to be measured and mixed up to 50% in either direction to vary the flex characteristics of the cured bond line.

1 part resin to 1 part catalyst yields a moderately flexible bond line.

1 part resin .5 catalyst yields a stiffer bond line

1 part resin to 1.5 catalyst use a more flexible bond line.

To use, simply extract the desired amounts out of the containers using a lolly stick or similar and mix on a flat non-porous surface for two minutes. We recommend starting with a 1 : 1 mix and if necessary, adjusting the ratio as desired. Working time at room temperature: 45 minutes.

Full cure at room temperature: 24 hours

2 x 2oz pots of Catalyst and Resin, plus 8 mixing cups

The picture shown is lighter than the stock. Inky black with a significantly higher density and hardness than ordinary oak, bog oak was created when prehistoric forests were submerged under water and silt in anaerobic conditions thousands of years ago. This stock has been carbon dated and is at least 3300 years old.

The black colour is a chemical reaction between the tannin in the oak and ferrous compounds in the water.

Bog oak is one of the most difficult woods to dry. A very large percentage of material is lost in the drying process and this largely explains the price.
